Russia 2018 | Day 2

Writer's picture: CloverlistCloverlist

Actually it is the first day visiting Moscow in Russia.

2nd Day (20/7 Friday)

Triumphal Arch of Moscow (Моско́вские Триумфа́льные воро́та) --> Museum of the Great Patriotic War --> Red Square and Kremlin --> GUM Department store --> Taking the Moscow Metro --> Cosmo Hotel to have dinner

Triumphal Arch of Moscow

The Triumphal Arch is our first seeing sight. But we didn't stay there for long.

Built in 1829-34, the Triumphal Arch of Moscow is one of the oldest surviving Triumphal Arch to commemorate Russia's victory over Napoleon. The arch was constructed in brick and lined with ashlar, and the columns and statues were made of cast iron.

On the Street

Then we headed to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War by shuttle bus and the following are few street photos. The old buildings were well-preserved. And the public transport was quite different from Hong Kong, like single-level buses. There were few modern architectures and skyscrapers.

Museum of the Great Patriotic War

Located at Poklonnaya Gora, Museum of the Great Patriotic War is a history museum featuring exhibits and memorials of World War II. Outside the museum was a large plaza and open space with displays of military vehicles and cannons, sculptures, and it took us a while to heading to the Museum.

Art works in exhibition halls, portraying some major battles in Second World War .
